Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir Dilbag Singh has paid tributes to Dy SP Aman Kumar Thakur who was killed in a gunfight with the militants in Kulgam on Sunday.

A police spokesman in a statement said, “We pay rich tributes to our colleague Martyr DySP Aman Kumar Thakur for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty today at Kulgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this critical juncture.” “DySP Aman Kumar was a 2011 batch KPS Officer who was leading from the front in this operation,” he said.

“DySP Aman Kumar was known for his simplicity, plain speaking and thorough professionalism and was known for his determination and valour. In a short period of time he had earned love, respect and appreciation of the locals in the area for his helpful nature and professionalism,” said police spokesman in a statement.

“A resident of Gogla in Doda district, DySP Aman Kumar is survived by aged parents, wife Sarla Devi and a six-year-old son Arya,” the spokesman in a statement said.
