Srinagar

Police on Friday evening raided Burhan Wani’s home in Sharifabad locality of Tral town in Pulwama for some unknown reasons.

The raid created panic near his home as dozens of youth had already reached to the slain’s home. Locals said that the situation was controlled after village elders rushed there and asked the police to tell them why they were there.

Locals said that police did not give the reason of their visit. Locals believe that police raid was intended to “harass Burahn’s family and villagers ahead of his death anniversary.”

On July 8, last year Wani was killed with his two associates in Bamdoora village of Kokernag area in southern Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

The entire Tral is under siege and police and paramilitary deployment has been beefed up.

Villagers said that army personnel thrashed a baker of Tral who works in Safron town of Pampore near Srinagar. He was traveling back to his home when near an army check post he was stopped and army persons started beating him.

“Before a police man who recognized him intervened he had received bruises all over his body,” his neighbor who visited him in hospital told Kashmir Life.

Later he was taken to SOG camp in Tral and from there he was shifted to Tral hospital where he stays admitted.
