Police achieved a major breakthrough when it succeeded in re-arresting one of the burglars who fled from police custody few days back, a police statement said on Friday.
Police re-arrested Tariq Ahmad Mathanji resident of Pamposh Colony, Srinagar who was one of the two burglars who fled from the lock-up of Police Station M R Gunj.
The duo was involved in burglary cases FIR No’s 70/2014 and 09/2015 under section 457,380 RPC of Police Station M.R Gunj. The hunt for the other accused who is still at large is going on.
Police launched vigorous searches after two burglars Tariq Ahmad Mathanji and Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh resident of Khudwani, Kulgam fled from the police lock-up at Police Station M R Gunj during the intervening night of 14/15-03-2015. Four officials of Police Station M.R Gunj including MHC and Sentry were suspended for negligence and carelessness. A case FIR No. 24/2015 under section 224 RPC was registered to investigate the matter.
