SRINAGAR: The Cyber Cell of Police District Awantipora has successfully recovered Rs 2,45,990 lost to online financial frauds, bringing relief to multiple victims.
“Police received several complaints regarding fraudulent schemes where individuals were deceived into making deposits with false promises of high returns. Acting swiftly, the Cyber Cell gathered evidence, traced the transactions, and froze the fraudulent amounts. The recovered sum was subsequently credited back to the victims,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
Police have urged the public to stay vigilant against online scams, fake SMS credit messages, and unauthorized applications. They also advised caution while receiving video calls from unknown numbers and sharing personal information online.
