Police said several individuals were duped by fraudulent investment schemes promising high returns in exchange for repeated deposits. Victims transferred money before realising the schemes were fake.

Following the complaints, the Cyber Cell traced the transactions using digital tools and froze the involved accounts. The entire amount was recovered and credited back to the victims.

Awantipora Police have advised the public to stay cautious online. “Users are urged to avoid unverified investment links, suspicious messages, and unknown mobile applications. The advisory also warns against answering video calls from unknown numbers and sharing personal or banking information online,” police said.
