SRINAGAR: In a significant breakthrough, police in Srinagar have recovered a stolen vehicle from an accused involved in an extortion case.
“The accused, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah alias 99, son of Ghulam Qadir Shah, a resident of Aikal Mir Khanyar, was apprehended by a team from Police Station Safakadal in connection with an extortion case registered under FIR No. 02/2025, under Section 308(2) BNS,” a police spokesperson in a statement said.
Based on his disclosure, the investigating team recovered a stolen Alto vehicle. Further recoveries are expected as the investigation progresses.
Police said that the accused is involved in more than 30 FIRs related to theft and extortion and has been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) twice. “His apprehension marks a significant achievement for Srinagar Police, led by a team from Police Station MR Gunj under the supervision of the SHO.”
