FIR Nos. 148/2026 and 151/2026 have been registered at Police Station Shopian, and investigations into the incidents have been initiated, police said on Thursday.

The cases were registered after firecrackers were allegedly burst during wedding celebrations despite repeated public advisories and orders prohibiting their use in the district.

Shopian Police said the prohibitory orders remain in force and warned that violations would invite legal action under the applicable law.

Police also urged residents to comply with the restrictions and ensure that social and public gatherings are conducted in accordance with the law.
