SRINAGAR: In the midnight encounter that broke out in Padgampora Awantipora, the Jammu and Police said they have killed a militant.

The police tweeted that they have retrieved the body of the slain militant but the identity is to be ascertained. The operation is still in progress.
Reports said that a joint team of Army, CRPF and Police had launched a cordon and search operation in Padgampora village in the Pulwama area after having received inputs about the presence of militants.
The encounter broke out within hours after a high-security meeting was presided over by ADGP Kashmir. He instructed the officers to enhance counter-terror operations in the district and generate more human and technical intelligence.
