Police Seize 10 Vehicles for Illegal Mining in North Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: In a major crackdown on illegal mining, police in Handwara have seized ten vehicles engaged in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals.

Acting on specific inputs, teams led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Handwara and the In-Charge of Police Post Langate, in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, conducted the operation. Ten tractors involved in the illegal activity were seized.

The vehicles have been fined under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD Act), and legal proceedings have been initiated against the vehicle owners and drivers.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal mining activities by calling 112. Authorities assured that strict action would be taken against violators to curb illegal extraction and protect natural resources.
