SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized a consignment of illicit forest timber in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and registered a case against an accused, officials said on Monday.
Acting on specific information about illegal timber smuggling in the Goigam area, a police team conducted a search operation and recovered 38 window frames along with seven wooden planks of varying sizes. The material was allegedly found in the possession of Khurshheed Ahmad Khan, a resident of Goigam. A case has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and an investigation is under way.
Police said action against timber smuggling and other environmental offences will continue to safeguard forest resources.
