SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Shopian arrested bootlegger and seized 11 bottles of liquor from his possession.
During naka checking at Reshinagar, a police party intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag, who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended. During search of the bag, 11 bottles of whisky (750 ml each) were recovered. The arrested person has been identified as Alyas Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Reshnagri.
Accordingly, Case FIR No. 50/2025 under relevant provisions of the Excise Act stands registered at Police Station Heerpora and investigation has been set into motion.
