SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized six tippers and tractors, besides arresting drivers while cracking a whip on illegal mining of minerals at Shrai Tangmarg and Kunzer Baramulla in Northern Kashmir.

A police spokesperson said in a statement that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg and SHO PS Kunzer, seized nine vehicles and arrested their drivers identified as Nisar Ahmad Malik son of Ab Hameed, Ab Hameed Kumar son of Gh Mohammad, Ab Hamid Kumar son of Gh Mohd, all residents of Pariswani, Firdous Ahmad Magray son of Gh Rasool resident of Chandil Wanigam, Nisar Ahmad Rather son of Shabir Ahmad  & Shabir Ahmad Rather son of Mohd Akbar, both residents of Ganibaba Kunzer, Abdul Hamid Mir son of Mohammad Shaban resident of Mangloora, Fayaz Ahmad Reshi son of Ab Rahim resident of Paraswani and Ali Mohammad Lone son of Gh Qadir resident of Karhama.

He said that they were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and accordingly cases under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Tangmarg and PS Kunzer and investigations has been initiated.
