Police Seize Over 18 Kgs of Narcotics, Three Drug Peddlers Arrested

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered over 18 kilograms of narcotic substances in coordinated operations in Baramulla and Anantnag districts, arresting three individuals involved in the illicit trade.

In Baramulla, police seized 1.216 kilograms of suspected brown sugar during the intervening night of April 7 and 8. Acting on a tip-off, a police team stationed at Bernate Bala, Boniyar, intercepted a suspicious individual, identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Late Hafiz-Ullah Mir and a resident of Bernate, Boniyar. A digital weighing machine was also recovered from his possession. He was immediately taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 25/2025 has been registered at Police Station Boniyar. An investigation is underway to identify other individuals linked to the narcotics network.

In Anantnag, police launched two separate operations, resulting in major drug seizures and arrests.
In the first instance, a checkpoint was established at Bashnaar by Police Station Aishmuqam based on specific intelligence. One individual, Muzaffer Ahmed Shah, son of Latief Shah from Hardkichloo Aishmuqam, was intercepted and found in possession of 10.27 kilograms of Charas powder. He has been booked under FIR No. 11/2025, and further enquiries are ongoing.

In a separate action, the Police Post Khanabal team apprehended Khayam Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Gani of Batangoo, at Shohal Batangoo, recovering 7 kilograms of poppy straw. He has been booked under the NDPS Act and investigations are in progress.
