SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested two individuals on charges of drug peddling in Srinagar and Awantipora, recovering contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.
According to officials, a police team from Nowhatta Police Station apprehended a suspect identified as Suhail Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh Rasool Sheikh and a resident of Qutbuddin Pora Aalikadal, at a checkpoint set up at Syed Sahab, Rajouri Kadal. A search led to the recovery of a significant quantity of psychotropic drugs, including SpasmoProxyvon and Tapentadol tablets.
In a separate operation in Awantipora, police arrested Adil Ahmad Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat and a resident of Latribal, Pampore. The arrest was made during naka checking, and five grams of a brown sugar-like substance were recovered from his possession.
Both individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the law, and investigations have been initiated at the respective police stations.
