SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached illegally acquired property of a notorious drug peddler, besides three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in Kashmir.
An official said that the Police has attached property of a notorious drug peddler Mudasir Ahmad Shah son of Mohd Maqbool Shah resident of Chanderseeran, Baramulla who is presently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bilwal Jammu under PIT-NDPS Act.
He said that the attached property includes land measuring 6 marlas under survey No. 875 and plinth of under construction poultry farm worth lacs.
The official said that the action was taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR No. 113/2023 under section 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Kreeri.
“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic substances by the drug peddler,” he said.
Similarly, Police in Anantnag district have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
An official said that a police party from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established near Tulkhan Crossing Sangam intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK03B-1781.
“During search of the vehicle, about 17 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the said vehicle,” he said, adding that three persons boarding the vehicle identified as Sajad Ahmad Dass son of Mohd Sultan Dass, Javid Ahmad Mantoo son of Wali Mohd Mantoo, both residents of Waghama Bijbehara and Muzaffar Ahmad Sheikh son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara were arrested.
“Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up,” he added.
