SRINAGAR: Jammu and kashmir Police have confiscated the property of a ‘notorious’ drug peddler in Takiya Cheva village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday.
The drug peddler was identified as Bashir Ahmed Chopan, son of Ab Ahad Chopan, residing in Takiya Cheva, Sumbal.
An official said that the confiscated property includes a single-story residential house along with 6 marlas of land, identified as proceeds from the sale of narcotics.
“This action comes under the purview of Case FIR NO 43/2019 registered under the NDPS Act at Police Station Sumbal,” the official added.
He further said that the Bandipora police have been actively pursuing cases related to drug trafficking, aiming to dismantle the networks involved in the illegal trade and to curb the menace of drug abuse.
“Bandipora Police has confiscated one motorcycle Reg No JK05A-9722 belonging to a drug peddler namely Umar Mohammad Guro S/o Gh Mohammad Guro R/o Naninara Sumbal as proceeds of sale of narcotics under NDPS Act of PS Sumbal,” the Bandipora police said.
