On the first death anniversary of the Pirbagh youth murdered last year, protests Saturday morning rocked the Airport road here with people alleging “police have been shielding the murderers.”

Holding placards, scores of locals including women and children, marched through Pirbagh interiors and finally staged a sit in on the high-security airport road.

The protesters said the police were shielding the “culprits as they happen to be influential people.”

Pertinently the body of slain youth Owais Bashir Malik son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Pirbagh, was found in the nearby Humhama locality last year this day. Owais had gone missing under mysterious circumstances two days back.

The locals alleged that police “concocted a false story in the murder case only to shield the real killers.”

“We have enough evidence to prove that the story given by police to the media was far from reality,” the locals said.
