J&K Police claim to have solved a double-murder case and arrested the accused wife while five persons allegedly helping the lady in executing and covering up the murder are still at large and police have launched a manhunt to arrest them in Chenab Valley’s Doda district.
However, the motive behind the double-murder could not be ascertained, yet.
As per the details available with Kashmir Life, during the intervening night of 23/24 October 2016, Police Station Assar from reliable sources learnt that a double-murder case has taken place at remote village Barri Marmat in Doda district.
A police team led by SHO Police Station Assar, Inspector Farooq Ahmed immediately swung into action and visited the spot and launched a manhunt to trace out the dead bodies.
During the course of investigation, police noticed some suspicious movements of Reenu Devi, wife of Sham Lal, resident of Barri and put her to sustained questioning. She was later arrested by police after she confessed that she had murdered her husband namely Sham Lal and father-in-law Sunito Ram, s/o Gaddu Ram, r/o Barri Marmat in connivance with another accused identified by her as Om Parkash, s/o Chuni Lal, r/o Barri and four others.
Police further stated that during the course of investigation and search, the police party succeeded to trace out the dead bodies of both the deceased persons, which were concealed by the accused persons in the nearby land of Om Parkash at same village Barri Marmat.
The dead bodies of both the deceased persons have been handed over to their legal heirs for last rites after completing all legal formalities.
The search is going on to arrest the other accused persons involved in the commission of crime. In this regard, a case FIR No 29/2016 U/S 302/450/201 RPC stands registered at P/S Assar and investigation is going on.
When contacted, DIG Doda-Kishtwar region Nisar Ahmed confirmed the arrest of the accused for murdering her husband and father-in-law.
He said that the area is far flung and police party that rushed to the spot is on its way back. “Only after proper questioning of the accused, the real motive behind the double murder could be ascertained.”
Meanwhile, the sources termed extra-marital relationship as “motive” behind the double murder.
