Police Solve Wire Theft, Arrest Two, Recover Rs 5 Lakh Property

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Baramulla have successfully solved a theft case within 48 hours of its reporting, arresting two suspects and recovering stolen property worth Rs 5 lakh, including industrial wire and vehicles used in the crime.

The case was registered on June 3, 2025, at Police Station Pattan following a complaint from Mohammad Amin Dar, a resident of Sumbal and subcontractor for Lumino Industries Ltd. He reported the theft of Dog Conductor (wire) from a worksite in Mamoosa during the intervening night of 2 and 3 June.

Upon registration of FIR No. 99/2025 under relevant legal sections, the police launched a swift investigation using both technical and human intelligence. The investigative team managed to trace the vehicles allegedly involved in the theft and interrogated multiple suspects.

The inquiry led to the arrest of two individuals: Shabir Ahmad Tabardar, son of Ali Mohammad Tabardar, a resident of Singhpora; and Umer Nabi Khanday, son of Gh. Nabi Khanday, resident of Zangam. Based on their disclosures, police recovered the stolen wire and seized the vehicles used in the commission of the crime.

A police spokesperson stated that further investigation is ongoing. Police have reaffirmed their commitment to combatting crime and have appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities to ensure the continued safety and security of the community.
