Police Take Action Against Six for Unauthorized VPN Use

   

SRINAGAR: Kulgam Police on Thursday said they have identified six individuals using unauthorised Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, in violation of prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate, as part of an ongoing crackdown against illegal VPN usage.

The police said that accordingly, security proceedings have been initiated against 06 such persons for non-compliance of administrative orders.

Pertinently, District Magistrate, Kulgam, issued prohibitory orders vide order No: DMK/JC/2025-26/1061-78 dated 27.12.2025 banning the use of unauthorized VPNs to curb misuse of online platforms, including encrypted applications.

Kulgam Police advised public against using unauthorised virtual private networks and any suspicious activity in this regard may be reported at nearby police unit or by Dialing 112, reads the statement. (GNS)
