SRINAGAR: Police is trying to restore the routine movement of traffic on highway after locals in Bejbehara village blocked it in Bejbehara outskirts, reports said.

Details revealed that soldiers from 3-Rashtriya Rifles deployed around the road had stopped a mini-bus and beat its driver. A resident of Kupwara, Mohammad Rafiq Najar, the driver survived with minor injuries in the marshalling that people watched. They reacted to the high-handedness and stopped the movement on the highway.

“We are trying to convince people that they should permit routine movement on the highway and the police will take care of the incident,” one police officer in Srinagar said.

The incident took place at Sethar, a village on the highway, in the outskirts of Bejbehara.
