Jammu and Kashmir Police vehicle on Saturday was used to distribute food during Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election rally in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

After video goes viral on social media sites Jammu and Kashmir police have ordered a probe and suspended the driver of the vehicle.

The rally was addressed by the BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav at Dak Banglow Anantnag.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, “Today a video surfaced on social media wherein one police vehicle is being seen being utilised for distribution of food items in a political party rally in Anantnag.”

“The vehicle in question was deployed for ferrying escort personnel of a protected person,” he said.

“The vehicle has been withdrawn from said protected person and driver of the vehicle has been attached. Enquiry into the matter has been ordered under rules,” said police spokesman in a statement.
