SRINAGAR : A Head Constable of the India Reserve Police (IRP) died after collapsing while on duty in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Charanje Lal, son of Chhunku Ram, a resident of Kandharnoo in Kathua district. He was serving with the 10th Battalion of the IRP and was deployed for minority security duty at Trichal in Pulwama.
According to officials, the policeman was found unconscious during duty and was immediately rushed to the District Hospital Pulwama for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
The exact cause of death is yet to be determined. Officials said medico-legal formalities have been completed, and further proceedings have been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to his death.
