The Jammu and Kashmir policeman died on Sunday after he met with an accident in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
The spokesman said that a policeman identified as Shafoor Ajaz Wani, son of Ghulam Hassan Wani, a resident of Zandfaran, Sheeri met with a tragic road accident near Veerwan in District Baramulla while on his way to DPL Baramulla.
Ajaz was on a motorcycle when an Alto car hit the motorcycle injuring him grievously. He was evacuated to hospital for the treatment but succumbed to his injuries later.
Police have registered a case FIR No. 55/2019 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Baramulla. The Alto car bearing Registration No JK05F 4668 has also been seized in the matter. Accused driver has fled from the spot and police is making efforts to arrest him.
Shafoor is survived by wife Sakeena and three minor children.
