SRINAGAR: A policeman was shot at by unknown gunmen in Bandzoo area of Pulwama district on Sunday
A police spokesman in a statement said that suspected militants fired upon one policeman namely Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Mohammad Wagay a resident of Bandzoo Pulwama.
He said Mushtaq was presently performing his duties in DPL Pulwama as washerman and has received fire in his leg.
He added that local residents rushed him to nearby district Hospital Pulwama wherefrom he has been referred to SMHS Srinagar for further treatment.
He said that area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. The investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this terror crime. The area has been cordoned off and searches in the area is going on,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
