A policeman was killed after some unknown gunmen attacked him outside his residence at Qaimoh area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district late this evening.
Official sources told GNS that the gunmen intercepted the policeman Rafiq Ahmad Mir (38) son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir, a resident of Hasanpora Bagh at around8:40 pm. “The gunmen later shot him from point blank range, few meters away from his residence”.
Rafiq, was shifted to sub-district hospital Bijbehara where doctors declared him brought dead,” they said.
A police official confirmed the killing of the policeman.
The policeman, who was posted with IRP 12 bn and posted at Mattan area in Islamabad district, was on leave and had reached home only yesterday, they said.
Meanwhile, Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched the hunt to nab the suspected militants.
