SRINAGAR
Commending the people of Kashmir for observing complete strike on the second “martyrdom” anniversary of Mohammad Afzal Guru and for the demand of the return of his mortal remains from Tihar Jail, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that showing complete commitment and steadfastness towards the freedom movement was the only way to achieve the goals of Kashmiri martyrs.
Mirwaiz also condemned the government imposed curfew in many parts of Srinagar, arrests of pro-freedom leadership, workers and activists, and raids on their houses. “Policy of repression and political hegemony would in no break the resolve of Kashmiris towards freedom struggle,” he said in a statement.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of businessman and owner of SAIFCO Khwaja Saifudin Neelam. Expressing his sympathy and solidarity with the sons of the deceased including Altaf Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad and other family members, Mirwaiz said that the deceased has close family relations with the Mirwaiz family.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased for his contributions in social and business sectors, Mirwaiz offered special prayers for the deceased.
