SRINAGAR: Mobile Internet services were abruptly suspended in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri districts early on December 23 as security forces intensified their extensive search operation.

The suspension of mobile Internet services in the twin border districts followed the killing of three individuals allegedly taken into custody by the Army for questioning.

While both Army and civil authorities remain tight-lipped regarding the on-ground situation, a top official told Kashmir Life that the suspension of mobile Internet services in Poonch and Rajouri was a precautionary measure.

The aim is to curb the spread of rumours and prevent potential miscreants from inciting any law and order disruptions.
