A S Dulat, former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief on Friday said that the Lok Sabha elections results in Jammu and Kashmir will have a serious impact on Legislative Assembly results in winter.

Talking to KNS, Dulat, who has also served as then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s adviser on Kashmir, said that he has been monitoring elections in Jammu and Kashmir since 1996 and all the elections in Jammu and Kashmir since 1996 were conducted in a free and fair atmosphere.

When reminded of ‘infamous rigging’ in elections of 1987, Dulat said: “Yes that was an unfortunate episode but nevertheless there is a total change in overall political dynamics when it comes to Jammu and Kashmir.”

He said the Lok Sabha elections will  shake up National Conference which has miserably failed to retain its Lok Sabha constituencies in Kashmir. “Surely the Lok Sabha verdict in J&K should shake up National Conference,” he said. He added that BJP will improve its tally in Legislative Assembly polls in Jammu region and similarly the PDP will get more numbers in the Assembly in winter this year.

Dulat who has been a member of national security advisory board also advised Sajad Lone to gear and work hard before Legislative Assembly polls scheduled to be held in October-November 2014. “The Lok Sabha verdict should shake up Sajad as well. No doubt he worked very hard and he has got an impressive voter share but should think of alliance with any bigger political party. Sooner the better,” Dulat advised.
