Clashes erupted in Sopore town of Baramulla and Trehgam area of Kupwara district after congressional Friday prayers.

In Trahgam police fired teargas shells on the protestors who were shouting pro-freedom slogans. Local correspondent reports quoting eye witnesses said that in retaliation police fired teargas shells and some of the shells landed in the court yard of Jamia Masjid which led to scuffle between village elders and police.

Superintendent of Police Kupwara told Kashmir Life that there were minor clashes in the area and confirmed the firing of shells in the yard of mosque.

The situation in parts of district continues to remain tense following the killing of civilian by army in Panzgam village.

Clashes had erupted in Trehgam on Thursday when the deceased was declared dead by the doctors at hospital in Trehgam. Youth pelted stones on army vehicles, reports said.   The news of death triggered shutdown in Trehgam and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile army continues to carryout search operation in Panzgam and neighbouring villages in a search of “third militant’ who is on run.
Clashes also erupted between government forces and youth after congressional friday prayers in main town of Sopore of Baramulla district.

Following the Friday prayers in historic Jamia Masjid Sopore which is situated in the old town side of Sopore town the protestors assembled outside it and started moving towards main Chowk Sopore amid anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

As the rally reached near fish market Sopore protesters mainly youths start hurling stones on Government forces deployed near fish market.

The government forces in return fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd but the gathering of protesters continued to rise. Police fired stun grenades too to push back the protestors.
