SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India has announced the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in Jammu and Kashmir for the academic year 2023-24.

It aims to provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher studies after completing Class 10. The application deadline for the scholarship is February 15, 2024.

It is implemented by the Social Welfare Department of Jammu and Kashmir. The scholarship offers a monthly allowance of up to Rs 1200, along with additional benefits.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be Indian nationals and domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir, belonging to the ST community. They should be pursuing higher studies at the post-matric level from a recognised institution or university, having passed Class 10 from a recognised board of education. The annual income of their parents or guardian(s) should not exceed Rs 2,50,000 from all sources.

Candidates availing other scholarships for the same course or stipend from any other source are not eligible. The documents that are needed to submit along with the application include a passport-size photograph, attested copies of academic transcripts, including certificates, diplomas, and degrees for all examinations passed, a valid caste certificate signed by an authorised Revenue Officer, annual income declaration by self-employed parents or guardian and a receipt acknowledging the scholarship in the previous year (if applicable).
