Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday said that power supply in Kashmir Valley will be restored soon.

“I talked to power secretary. They are on the job. Soon it will be restored. At some places, trees have fallen on lines but that is being taken care of,” Governor Satya Pal Malik told the news gatherer.

“We are trying our best; 50% restoration immediately and 100% by tomorrow,” Commissioner Secretary, PDD, Hirdesh Kumar told the news gatherer.

“It is not the question of 2-inch snowfall. damages occurred to Transmission & Distribution lines by trees; I am also coming to Srinagar tomorrow by earliest possible flight,” he said. “The best possible human efforts shall always be made by us,” he added.

Meanwhile, doctors have been alerted for emergency duties, principal secretary, Health and Medical Education department Atal Dulloo told the news agency.

“Heating arrangements in Operation Theaters (OTs) and wards are being activated. Control rooms are being set up,” he added.

Meanwhile, Director Health Services Kashmir, Kunlun Doma said that concerned Medical Superintendents have been asked to ensure heating and other arrangements in the interest of patient care.

“In view of the abrupt change in weather, Medical Superintendents stand already instructed for making immediate heating arrangements in the interest of patient care,” Director Health said.

“CMOs and BMOs have been asked to establish control rooms and activate disaster management units. Medical Superintendents have been asked to ensure the presence of staff after handover-takeover or by continuing the arrangements till next shifts,” he added. (GNS)
