The Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad has stressed for prospective planning in infrastructural development keeping in view the future requirements of police Organization. He has called for framing holistic plan for police housing and other requirements of the organization.

Prasad was speaking after commissioning new Railway Police Headquarters at Channi Rama here on Monday. He said that sufficient infrastructure was must for efficient delivery and the Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization has been strengthening its housing infrastructure across the state to provide better living and working facilities for its personnel.

He said that a mega construction plan has been taken into hand under the modernization programme with the aim to house all offices in the well equipped buildings.

The building has been executed by Police Construction Division (PCD) at a cost of about Rs. 2 crores. The two storied building, with 18,000 sqft. Area, consisting 22 rooms and parking in the basement is having capacity to accommodate Railways Headquarters, besides the Telecommunication Office.  The building has all modern facilities for office working.

While inspecting the new building, the DGP stressed upon the officers and engineers, accompanying him that while finalizing the building plans, it should be kept in consideration that the buildings are provided with all latest requirements, including sufficient parking for the vehicles. He discussed the architecture of the building with the officers and engineers. He appreciated the efforts of senior officers and the engineers of PCD for timely completion of the building in a record period of one year. He also emphasized that better maintenance of the buildings would make them more useful and convenient for the inmates.

The Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), Mr. S. P. Vaid, who was accompanying the DGP, explained about the architecture and the material utilized for the construction. He said that   PCD used all means to ensure timely completion of the building. The Executive Engineer, PCD, Mr. N. D. Khawaja also briefed the officers about the building plan and capacity of the new complex.
