SRINAGAR: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday, with the two leaders reviewing India-Iran relations and discussing their longstanding cultural and people-to-people connections.

Murmu welcomed Pezeshkian on his maiden visit to India and acknowledged Iran’s support during India’s BRICS presidency.
The meeting also focused on the longstanding friendship between the two countries, with both sides highlighting their close cultural links and people-to-people ties.
Murmu reaffirmed India’s commitment to lasting peace in the region and emphasised that conflicts should be addressed through dialogue and diplomacy.
Pezeshkian is visiting India for the BRICS summit, which is also witnessing discussions on regional peace and stability amid continuing tensions in West Asia.
