President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid has stressed upon Hurriyat and other pro-Kashmiri forces to respond positively to the periodic unity calls given by UJC supremo Syed Sallahudin from time to time.

Speaking on the sidelines of meeting Engineer Rashid said that one may differ with the militants for many reasons but nobody can downplay the role of UJC the militants especially its chief Syed Sallahudin in bringing in to focus the long pending dispute of
Jammu & Kashmir.

While replying to a question he said that by asking Omer Abdullah to join the resistance movement Sallahudin has clearly given a message louder and clear to all the political forces including different factions of Hurriyat to shun down their differences and makes sincere efforts to force India for a meaning full dialogue so as to reach out on some consensus to reach out a solution to the long pending dispute.

He said that if from Syed Ali Geelani to Mirwaiz Umar and Mufti Mohammad Syed to Omer Abdullah everybody is talking about Kashmir, ‘Sallahudin’s miss call to Omer Abdullah should not be interpreted in any wrong way.’ He said besides sacrifices of common Kashmiries all across the state, it is the huge sacrifices offered by thousand of Kashmiri youth who took up arms in their hands to fight for the resolution of Jammu & Kashmir dispute and then only people started talking about so called autonomy, self rule or other formulas.

“It is high time for the Hurriyat leadership to go for an introspection of the movement and in the larger interest of Kashmiries try to bridge their difference and also carry out sincere efforts to get main stream parties on board so that sacrifices of Kashmiries don’t go to waste,” he added.

Earlier an ‘Awami Durbar’ was held today at Sanzipora Langate to take stock or the difficulties and problems faced by the people related to forest department. The Durbar was attended by senior officers from forest department including conservator forests Mian Javaid and other senior officers from Forest, Wildlife and Forest Protection Force. Besides panchs, sarpanchs, prominent citizens of the area, briefed Forest authorities about the hardships faced by them on account of shortage of timber, firewood and increasing attacks by wild animals in the areas adjoining forest.

The forest authorities assured people that they will leave no stone unturned to fulfil the genuine demands of people of the area. In a significant development the participants including panchs, sarpanchs and members from different walks of life took oath that they will not only insure that timber smuggling comes to an end but promised that they will provide best possible corporation to save the green gold in the Langate area as nobody can afford to the destruction and devastation of forests.

Engineer Rashid said on the on the occasion that he has promised to make people of his constituency to take care of their duties before they speak about their rights.

Speaking on the occasion conservator of forest thanked the people of Langate for showing due concern and taking lead from the front to come forward voluntarily to protect forests and promised that the forest department will do what so ever required and possible to over come the difficulties faced by the people of Langate who have today given a new hope and direction to the whole state by taking oath to curb
smuggling.
