Srinagar

Scores of Kashmir University students on Friday held a massive protest demonstration in the varsity campus to protest against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Sources in the varsity said that the students after offering congregational Friday prayers assembled outside the Jami Masjid of the varsity and raised slogans in favour of Islam, Muslims and Rohingya.

The students later, they said, marched through the varsity campus and assembled in the lawns of Allama Iqbal library.

The protest demonstration culminated with the students demanding an immediate end to the oppression and violence meted out to the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

A number of students spoke on the occasion condemning the Myanmar government’s response and the silence of the world community.

Pertinently, the joint resistance leadership had called for protests after Friday prayers against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Burma or Myanmar.
