SRINAGAR
Massive traffic jams was reported on Srinagar bypass and mixed columns of police and Army were seen advising people to stay away Wednesday evening. It happened after a gun shots were heard somewhere near the Hyderpora bypass, residents and local police said.
“I am just rushing towards the spot,” a police officer on his way to Hyderpora from Budgam said. “We are told there is firing.”
Police teams from neighbouring stations in Srinagar have also rushed to the spot. There are not many details available.
Residents called KL said the disruption has triggered a mess on the highway as lot of vehicles moving on either side are halted. There is increased activity of security men on the highway, one resident who is caught in the jam near the flyover said.
