SRINAGAR: Kishtwar Police, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has initiated proclamation proceedings under Section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) against 13 individuals suspected of involvement in militant activities, officials reported.

In the words of a senior police officer, as per news agency KS, Kishtwar police is cooperating with law enforcement agencies to adhere to due process and bring these individuals to justice.

“These proceedings have been initiated due to the persistent evasion of authorities by these individuals, who are believed to be on the run. Under Section 82 of the CrPC, individuals declared as proclaimed offenders are subject to legal actions aimed at their apprehension and the subsequent attachment of their assets within the jurisdiction,” he emphasised.

Kishtwar Police has also utilised drum beating as a means to inform the general public about the ongoing endeavors to apprehend the 13 alleged militants who have been declared as proclaimed offenders.

Furthermore, in addition to these initiatives, Kishtwar Police is actively fostering engagement with the community to ensure safety. Recent undertakings include the introduction of community policing programs and the implementation of heightened security measures.

The proclamation proceedings and property attachment constitute integral components of a comprehensive strategy to counter terrorism and uphold the rule of law.
