Prof Javed Musarrat, an eminent academician of International fame, has taken over as Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri.
Prof Musarrat was appointed by the Chief Minister and Chancellor of the University Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for a term of five years on the recommendation of a high level Search Committee under chairpersonship of Prof Amitabh Matto, Advisor to Chief Minister.
A rousing reception and welcome was given to Prof Musarrat by the students, teachers, officers and the non-teaching staff of the University.
In his address, Prof Musarrat said that academic excellence, clean governance and state of art student facilities are the top priorities.
Author of several books and hundreds of publications, Prof Musarrat has served in the United States as Visiting Scientist, Michigan State University, visiting Assistant Professor Ohio State University, Columbus. He has also served as Chair Professor, DNA Research Chair, King Saud University, Riyadh and Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University. He is recipient of several national and international awards.
The Civil society has appreciated the decision of Chancellor Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for appointment of Prof Musarrat as Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, an official statement claimed Thursday evening.
