Newly appointed as Vice Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology(IUST) Awantipora J&K, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi Wednesday afternoon assumed the office and took over the charge from varsity`s incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof. A. R. Trag.
After assuming the charge, Prof Siddiqi held a brief interaction with the officials of the varsity during which he outlined his vision for the betterment of the institution.
Chief Minister, J&K Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, who is also Chancellor of the varsity, appointed Prof. Siddiqi as Vice Chancellor of IUST for a period of three years after a panel comprising Prof. Amitabh Mattoo (Advisor to CM), Dr. V S Chauhan (Former Director ICGEB, Member UGC), Prof. Jalees Ahmad Khan Tareen (Former VC University of Kashmir/ Pondicherry University/ B S Abdur Rehman University) and Dr. G N Qazi (VC Jamia Hamdard) recommended his name for the post.
According to spokesman of varsity, a warm reception and welcome was given to Prof Siddiqi by the officers and staff members of the University.
Outgoing Vice-Chancellor while welcoming Prof. Siddiqi, briefed him about the functioning and developmental plans of university.
Later on, a warm sendoff was given to Prof. A. R. Trag on completion of his tenure. He thanked the entire IUST fraternity and all the stakeholders for their help, cooperation, and good wishes.
