Kashmir Life is going public about the properties of the top state officials on day-to-day basis so that the common masses can have information about the officials who govern them. We start with J&K’s top bureaucrat, Chief Secretary Madhav Lal. The information is strictly based on the statements of the officials which they have submitted to the government on their appointment.

Madhav Lal, the incumbent chief secretary (CS) to J&K. He is from the JK 1977 (IAS) batch and was appointed as CS on February 2, 2011.

Madhav was born on June 4, 1955 and he has done B.SC (honors) Physics, M.Sc Physics and MPA.

A resident of Delhi, Madhav has served the state of Jammu and Kashmir in various capacities including principal secretary to government- forest department, principal Secretary to government- planning and development department and OSD in the resident commission, J&K government.

He has also served in the government of India as deputy secretary in the ministry of finance (department of economic affairs) and as member (finance and administration) in the national highway authority of India.
