Srinagar

Normal life remains paralyzed on Friday in view of a protest call given by JKLF supported by MMM for not handing over the body of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, who was hanged and buried in Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013.

Most of the shops and business establishments remained closed due to the strike, while public transport remained off the roads.  However, some of the private vehicles could be seen plying on the roads in Srinagar and some other parts of the Valley.

It is for the first time after February 9 that state authorities didn’t put strict restrictions on movement despite a protest call given by separatist parties. However state police and CRPF deployments are kept in all areas which are prone to stone throwing incidents.
