SRINAGAR: People of Surankote area of Poonch district sat in protest against the opening of a wine shop at Potha Bypass in the area.
The people belonging to different sections of the society after offering their Friday prayers in a meeting decided to hold sit-in protests at the Bus Stand Surankote daily from 10 AM to 2 PM till the shop is shut down by the government.
Shahnawaz Choudhary, DDC member Surankote-A and others expressed their concerns stating that the whole Surankote is protesting against the opening of the shop. “We warn Government to close wine shop at the earliest, otherwise people here will sit on dharna every day, till Government takes back its decision, we will extend this sit-in protest from 4 hours to 24 hours and go on hunger strike for further course of action”, they stated.
