Protests against Sainik, Pandit Colonies on June 3rd 2016

Following the post Friday protest call given jointly by the separatists, people held protest at various places against the ‘government proposals including Sainik, Pandit colonies and new industrial policies’.

The protest call was given by both the factions of Hurriyat and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) against alleged government proposals including Sainik, Pandit colonies and new industrial policies.

They also appealed people to hoist and wave black flags throughout the valley.

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) activists held sit-in protests throughout the valley against the proposed settlement for Pandits, and ex-army men besides new industrial policy.

The JKLF activists organized sit-ins and hoisted black flags as a mark of protest throughout the valley. “Besides JKLF leaders and activists a large number of people including women from all walks of life also joined this protest sit-in,” JKLF spokesperson said.

Hurriyat Conference (m) activists also staged protest outside the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

Scores of Hurriyat Conference (m) activists assembled outside the Jamia Masjid after Friday congregation ended.

Waving black flags, the protesters were holding banners displaying ‘No to Industrial Policy, No to Sainik Colony’.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted between youth and forces in Nowhatta.

Eye-witnesses said that several youth were injured during the clashes. “Police resorted to tear smoke shells to disperse the agitating protesters,” they said.

Meanwhile, according to the reports, the locals in Pampore area hoisted black flags to mark a protest against the alleged government plans in the state.

Pertinently, a joint peaceful protest call after Friday prayers across the Valley was given by both the factions of Hurriyat and JKLF.

They had also appealed people to follow the joint programme of leadership to fight against anti-Kashmir policies of the government.
