SRINAGAR: Protests were held after Friday prayers in Chhatroo and Kishtwar town on Friday following the death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl while she was being referred from Kishtwar to Doda for medical treatment related to termination of pregnancy.
The girl, a school-going minor, died during the referral, following which police registered a case and arrested a school teacher allegedly linked to the matter.
The protests were held in Chhatroo and Kishtwar town after Friday prayers, with the incident triggering concern among local residents.
According to the information available, the minor was being referred from Kishtwar to Doda for medical treatment related to termination of pregnancy when she died.
Police subsequently registered an FIR in connection with the circumstances surrounding her death and arrested the teacher allegedly linked to the case.
