Protests erupted in Trehgam town of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after Army allegedly thrashed a local and damaged a vehicle on Saturday.

Locals told Kashmir Life that Army assaulted a shopkeeper and a lady without any provocation and later damaged a vehicle. They said army also opened fire on protesters.

The protesters also blocked the Trehgam –Kupwara road amid pro-freedom and anti-army slogans.

DySP headquarters Kupwara confirmed the incident and said that the situation in the area is now normal.
