Public Safety Act (PSA) on former IAS officer and chief of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Movement (JKPM)Dr Shah Faesal has been extended by three months, sources said.

Dr Shah Faesal was arrested on August 14, 2019, at the Delhi international airport and was booked under the stringent PSA in February.

The former IAS officer was initially kept at the Centaur hotel in Srinagar and later shifted to MLA hostel.

Following the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, thousands of people including three former Chief Ministers were arrested.

The government has set free former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah. But others including Mehbooba Mufti, Shah Faesal, Naeem Akhtar, Hilal Lone, Sartaj Madni and Ali Mohammad Sagar are still under detention under the Public Safety Act.
