Public Safety Act (PSA) on former Jammu and Kashmir minister and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar has been extended by three months, sources said.

Naeem was detained at the time of abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019. Booked under the stringent PSA, the former minister was initially kept at the Centaur hotel in Srinagar and later shifted to MLA hostel. From there, he was shifted to a government quarter at Gupkar Road.

Besides Naeem Akhtar, other mainstream leaders including PDP President Mehooba Mufti, Dr Shah Faesal, Sartaj Madni, Hilal lone and Ali Mohammad Sagar continue to remain under detention with PSA slapped on them.
