SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday revoked the Public Safety Act (PSA) of  IAS topper turned politician Shah Faesal, and two PDP leaders—Sartaj Madani and Peer Mansoor, who serving detention since August 5 last year.

An official said that the PSA of three politicians that include Shah Faesal, Sartaj Madani and Peer Mansoor has been revoked and they are likely to be set free any time from now.

Former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah welcomed their release but demanded the release his political rival Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP chief.

Omar Abdullah wrote on Twitter, “Good to hear @shahfaesal, Peer Mansoor & Sartaj Madani have been released from their unjust PSA detention.”

He demanded that other leaders including his party colleagues Ali Mohammad Sagar and Hilal Lone be released from house arrest. “Disappointed that @MehboobaMufti, Sagar Sb & Hilal Lone continue to be detained. It’s high time they are set free as well (sic),” tweeted Omar Abdullah.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sager and former J&K minister, Nayeem Akthar and Hilal Akbar Lone also continue to be in detention. Former J&K chief ministers and National Conference leaders Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah were released from detention earlier this year.
