Ameer of Jama’at-e-Islami Dr Abdul Hamid Fayaz who was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) earlier, has been shifted to Kathua Jail on Sunday early morning.
Official sources said that Ameer Jama’at was detained on February 23 from his residence at Hyderpora and was placed under police detention. Today early morning he was shifted to Kathua Jail from Budgam police station.
Earlier, GoI banned the Jamaat-e-Islami organisation of Jammu and Kashmir under various law for the next five years. Besides ban, scores of its leaders and activists were arrested by the police.
On March 22, the centre also banned the Yasin Malik led Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front organisation, while as Malik, who is also the part of JRL was detained under PSA and shifted to Jammu jail.
